Oceanbird is a huge cargo ship concept developed by Innovative Swedish Technology. It harnesses wind energy to navigate open seas.
The vessel concept aims to reduce emissions by as much as 90% with five 262-feet telescopic wings which are vertically aligned.
The wings are designed to carry the Oceanbird at a speed of 11 mph and have the ability to carry more than 70 million pounds.
When there are high winds, the Oceanbird extends its aerodynamic aeroplane wings; as they are telescopic, the vessel can accommodate travel under bridges.
The company says that Oceanbird has the ability to cross the Atlantic ocean in about two weeks.
