Top Chinese oil and gas producer PetroChina said on Monday it expected the country’s natural gas demand to grow 8.3% this winter from a year earlier, and that it plans to maximise domestic production and expand storage for imported liquefied natural gas
* The state major said on its official Wechat platform that it plans to finish injecting gas into underground storages by the end of October
* The firm has recently expanded storage capacity to 1.28 million cubic meters at the LNG terminal in Tangshan in northern China’s Hebei province, enabling the terminal to supply 41.2 million cubic meters of gas a day during peak demand
* PetroChina also in late September started up two new 200,000 cubic-meter tanks at its second major LNG terminal in Rudong of Jiangsu province
