About 1,200 seafarers had been administered Pfizer vaccines in Manila yesterday owing to the vaccine brand preferences of the destination countries.

Isko Moreno, Manila Mayor, Vince Dizon, National Task Force (NTF) against COVID-19 Secretary deputy chief implementer, Harry Roque, the presidential spokesman, Ramon Lopez, the Trade Secretary, Silvestre Bello III, the Labor Secretary, and Sen. Joel Villanueva attended the inoculation of seafarers held at the Palacio de Maynila.

Dizon mentioned that Pfizer vaccines had been administered to seafarers due to specific brand demands in other countries.

Dizon told at a press briefing that if they had options, they would go for any vaccine that was available in the market. But the challenge was that a few countries do not recognize certain vaccines.

Dizon added that seafarers and overseas Filipino workers had been elevated to the A1 priority group. Moreno said that seafarers are always welcome to get the COVID-19 vaccines in Manila. They would be happy to vaccinate and give them the confidence to go abroad.
