The Ever Given had blocked the Suez Canal in March. It finally departed from Egyptian waters at 4 am local time after inspections at Port Said. MarineTraffic, a shipping tracker, showed that Ever Given was already underway in the Mediterranean Sea.
One of the world’s largest container ships resumed its voyage to Rotterdam 112 days after it had been wedged across a southern section of the Suez Canal for six days and significantly impacted global trade.
On July 7, the ship had been released following negotiations and an undisclosed settlement between the insurers and owners of the Ever Given and the Suez Canal Authority (SCA) had been reached.
