South Korea’s flag container carrier HMM Co. will start container shipping service on a new route connecting the country’s port city of Busan to eastern coastal cities in South America to facilitate shipments by smaller exporters amid global shipping crunch. The new route will be exclusively operated by HMM, separately from THE Alliance. A 5,000 TEU Panamax-class container carrier will be deployed for the 84-day voyage from Dec. 7.
