In an attempt to give a boost to the badly hit tourism sector in Kerala for all upcountry visitors, on Wednesday, a luxury cruise liner reached Kochi from Mumbai with 1,200 guests aboard.

MV Empress, the luxury liner owned by Cordelia Cruises, anchored at Cochin Port around 5 am. About 800 visitors from various Indian states will arrive at Kochi to explore the rich heritage and history of this mesmerizing port city. The on-shore tour will strictly follow all Covid-19 protocols.

Tourists will get a golden opportunity to visit Fort Kochi and Mattancherry regions in the city. They are also in for a boat ride on the serene backwaters that unfold the charm of Kochi.

The visits of domestic tourists, according to P A Mohamed Riyas, the Tourism Minister, Kerala, is a promising boost to Kerala Tourism after Covid 19-induced crisis.

Venu V, the Tourism Secretary, said that all tourist destinations across the state are preparing to host guests. The tourism industry in Kerala is striving to reconfigure itself from the disruption brought about by the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
