India’ Independence Day is around the corner, and preparations are in full force. The Delhi Police is leaving no effort lacking to strengthen security ahead of I-Day celebrations. In a bid to boost security, they have placed shipping containers towering like walls at the entrance of the Red Fort.

Red Fort is the venue where Independence Day celebrations take place. Every year, the Prime Minister addresses the entire nation from the Red Fort on I- Day.

Sources quoted that the recent security boost by Delhi Police was in the wake of a possible drone alert in the national capital. Intelligence agencies earlier warned of a possible drone attack in Delhi ahead of the Independence Day celebrations.

As such, the Delhi police is not taking any chances. They also cited the example of the tractor rally by farmers on Republic day 2020 to take precautions to avoid any incident. The farmers’ protests in January 2020 turned violent and saw clashes between farmers and the police inside Red Fort.

Delhi police also stated that the shipping containers would have beautiful paints and decorations to give them a visual appeal.
