Cruise operator of the Royal Caribbean said on Thursday that two passengers on the Celebrity Millennium ship had tested positive during the mandatory end-of-cruise testing. Royal Caribbean said the two passengers are asymptomatic and in isolation. They are under the supervision of a medical team.
Royal Caribbean stated that they are contact tracing and also expediting testing for close contacts and monitoring the situation closely.
The cruise operator said the “comprehensive protocols” that the Celebrity Millennium had been following to ensure the safety of their guests had exceeded CDC guidelines.
Celebrity Millennium set sail on Saturday from St. Maarten and made multiple stops around the Caribbean.
Royal Caribbean had earlier said its crew was completely vaccinated. Passengers were also required to submit both proofs of Covid-19 vaccination and negative results from a COVID test conducted within 72 hours of their departure.
Children too young to get vaccinated were to show negative COVID-19 results.
