The US and the UK together with Israel have alleged that Iran struck an oil tanker using a drone off the coast of Oman in the Arabian Sea. This is expected to put more pressure on Tehran, which denies involvement in the fatal attack.
British Foreign Secretary, Dominic Raab, termed the attack ‘Unlawful and Callous’, adding the UK and its allies will coordinate a response in connection with the assault, which occurred on Thursday night on Mercer Street.
Antony Blinken, the US Secretary of State, said that the attack was without any justification and followed a pattern of belligerent behaviour.
The attack on Mercer Street was the first-known fatal strike after a long period of assaults on commercial shipping in the region, which is associated with tensions over Iran’s nuclear program.
No party has taken responsibility for the said attack yet. However, Iran and its militia accomplices have previously used drones in attacks, which crash into ships and detonate their exposures.
But Israel, the Uk, and the US are yet to show any evidence or offer intelligence information on why they blame Tehran.
