India has gifted two mobile oxygen plants to Bangladesh for its support in the country’s fight against the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Indian naval ship (INS) Savitri was carrying the two mobile plants for the Bangladesh Navy and the Dhaka Medical College. On Thursday, it reached the Chattogram harbor in Bangladesh. Bangladesh officials reported that the gifts were received ceremonially.
As part of the Indian Government’s vision of “Security and Growth for All in the Region” (SAGAR), the Navy has been actively engaging with many country-specific activities in the region.

The Indian Navy has also been spearheading several humanitarian missions spanning the Indian Ocean, including South Asia, South East Asia, and also East Africa.
India and Bangladesh have a close, long-term relationship spanning a wide spectrum of interactions and activities, which has kept strengthening over years. The citizens of Bangladesh and India also share cultural bonds and a vision of a rules-based order and democratic society.

Savitri is an Offshore Patrol Vessel belonging to the Indian Navy. It was built indigenously under the Eastern Naval Command that is based at Visakhapatnam.
INS Shakti had earlier transported 100T of liquid medical oxygen (LMO) to Sri Lanka. On the other hand, INS Airavat is on a deployment to South East Asia for transshipping urgent medical supplies to Vietnam, Indonesia, and Thailand.
